Practicing Forgiveness and the Acceptance of the unknowable

As promised, each week we host a guest blogger. I am so excited to share the amazing insights from Yoga Instructor, owner- Stacy Renz. Stacy is an amazing force in our community and her own blog is inspiring others. I wanted to share with you: Day 141....

My Journey to Ease Day 141 – Accepting the Unknowable

by Stacy Renz

Yesterday something completely bizarre happened. My husband came home around 5pm and asked me if I knew why Orange Kitty was sitting outside on the roof! Luckily we were able to safely retrieve Orange Kitty from a window sill. Upon investigation Greg discovered he had left an attic window open when he had taken down some of the Christmas lights. He knew Orange Kitty had gone out this way because the remaining lights were askew as if Orange Kitty had swung down on them to the roof below like Tarzan! But here is the bizarre part. The attic door was shut tight and I had not gone up there at all yesterday. How did he get into the attic? Had Greg gone up there the night before? I swear Orange Kitty had been present and accounted for before bed. Weird.

And then we discovered that our feral kitty Mouse was also missing. Was he outside? Was he in the attic? Food left on the porch last night was eaten but was it by Mouse, a stray cat, or even a raccoon? Well, about 12:45 last night I began to hear Mouse's pathetic cries. In a stupor I got up and strained to hear where it was coming from – as soon as I got up of course he stopped. So I went downstairs and looked out both doors knowing this was probably futile since he runs at the sight of us. As predicted, I did not see him. So as soon as I was nearly asleep again I heard the cries. They were so close I knew they had to be coming from the attic. So I stumbled to shut the bedroom door and open the attic door so mouse could come out of the attic but the other cats could not get into the attic. Just as I was getting back to sleep, Mouse cried again – to get out of the bedroom. So I got up, shut the attic door, and opened the bedroom door. Would I be able to get back to sleep after all this? It was now 1:30. Thankfully I was able to fall asleep again knowing all my cat children were safely back in the house. Sigh. I am still full of puzzlement at how the cats got into the attic. Shortly before Greg discovered Orange Kitty I had seen Mouse go out onto the front porch. I may never know what really happened.

This is not the first bizarre event to occur in our home. A few years ago Greg came home to find the glass door of our china cupboard complete shattered outward as if something had exploded inside the cupboard. Nothing else was disturbed except for the glass in million tiny pieces all over the floor. We never figured this one out either.

So what is the moral of this story and how does it relate to ease (you might be asking)? Sometimes we can get very hung up on figuring out the why of things. Nothing is inherently wrong with that – Knowing the why and the how can help us prevent similar situations in the future. However, when the answer is unclear or unknowable at the time, we must allow ourselves to move on anyway. An example might be trying to understand why someone we thought was a friend suddenly leaves the friendship and will not tell us why or trying to understand why our parents acted with such apparent disregard for our mental or even physical health when we were growing up. We can remain stuck sometimes for years if we do not get the answers we seek. What I have found is that practicing acceptance of the unknowable and forgiveness (with the appropriate amount of emotional boundary setting) toward the "perpetrator" often allows the truth to be revealed in right timing. And in the meantime, I have kept on living and growing in my own right – perhaps to the point that I can actually receive the truth with grace.

In the cases of the Mysterious Escaping Kitties and the Mysterious Shattering Cupboard, I may discover a secret passageway to the attic or that a spirit resides with us in the house, opening attic doors and shattering glass. If it is the latter I might prefer it remains unknowable.

Kinesio Taping for Lymphoedema and Chronic Swelling in St. Petersburg FL 33702

As a Lymph Therapist, weekly I work with clients who are experiencing swelling and fluid retention in their extremities. One of the modalities or therapies I will add to their lymphedema program is specific kinesio taping to reduce the accumulation of excessive amounts of protein-rich fluid in the body tissues.

Lymphatic dysfunction, as we refer to it, is something I look for in the first session with my client. It involves a comprehensive examination of the limbs at risk or with lymphoedema but also an assessment of the lymphatic structures and territories at the root of that limb. This examination of poor drainage might identify the thoracic duct as the source of the swelling in the feet or legs or even abdmonial areas.

There are several lymphatic disorders that cause swelling:
- a congenital condition called Milroy-Nonne Disease (birth)
-Meige's Disease (puberty)
-Lymphoedema tarda (after age 35)

Secondary Lymphoedema's:
-Latrogenic (removal of lymph nodes, radiotherapy to lymph nodes, sugery)
-Trauma (motor vehicle accident)
-Lymphangitis (rooted from fungal, bacterial, parasitic, insect or spider bite )
-Cancer (tumor blockage or compression on lymph system)

If you are experiencing one of more of this conditions - it would be recommended that you seek lymphatic congestion therapy along with a course of kinesio taping.

Kinesio taping can be very helpful in motivating and decongesting deep lymphatic fluid.

Call our offices for more information or to book you lymph therapy and kinesio taping appointment. 727-502-3464

A New Year, A New You-- 2011- The Great Awakening

TGIF!! This year, each week we will feature a health and wellness oriented contribution from one of our many fabulous wellness colleagues.

This week, I am super excited to introduce you to Diane Marie- a Certified Life Clarity and Energy coach with Authentic Clarity www.authenticclarity.com and works with individuals seeking to find clarity in their lives and fulfilling their higher purpose. Her Elemental Energy sessions are widely known for their life changing effects. She empowers individuals to love, honor and respect their authentic truth and make a difference in this world.

Diane has some amazing insights about 2011 and how it could be The Great Awakening for you.

~~~
What is in store for 2011?
2011 started off with some major shifts in our planetary energies. On January 4th we experienced a New Moon along with a Solar Eclipse in Capricorn! While I am not an astrologer, I do follow astrology as each one of us is divinely connected to the Universe and all these factors do affect what goes on with us. This brought in some new higher level energies that will be creating change for the better.
Many of us experienced some challenges in our lives in 2010. The energy of our planet is changing and we are being asked to change how we have always dealt with situations. A new higher vibration of energy is being ushered in, it is one of love, calmness and peace. More and more people are enjoying spiritual awakenings and realizing that we are all one. That each of us is divinely connected and what we do to others we also do to ourselves. We are becoming more aware of our connection with the divine source, our creator. We feel and are aware of ourselves and the body, mind, spirit connection more than ever in our life times.
It is time for each one of us to become the Victor and not the Victim of our situations. We are the co-creator of everything that happens in our lives whether it is good or bad. The buck stops with YOU! No more blaming someone else for what isn’t right in our lives and take responsibility for how it is. That is the first step of leaving victimhood behind. There is no growth in being a victim, no matter what the situation is. In order for the new energy to come into you, you must be willing to let go and release this lower level energy that has kept you in doubt, fear, sadness or anger.
Reflect on the past and allow yourself to let go, release anything that does not feel good, forgive and love yourself and allow these higher level energies to envelope you in a cocoon of pure joy and love. Ask yourself these questions:
  1. Where am I willing to change and/or grow in my life?
  2. Am I willing to see what is possible for me?
  3. Am I willing to expand even if it means changing?
  4. If I was willing to change and feeling bold, what would that look like for me?
2011 is the year to claim it and take action with passion. It is the year of creation, of being creative, of creating your dreams. You MUST love yourself in the highest way possible in order to fulfill those dreams. It is the year to explore, expand, travel and move forward step by step. We are being nudged and pushed to move through our challenges, become independent by becoming entrepreneurs. It will be the entrepreneurs of this world that turn around this economy.
Each one of us came here with an unique and specific life purpose. Are you living yours or still playing out in left field hoping no one notices you? We are entering a period of co-creation where thought will manifest into reality fairly quickly. It is time to step up to the plate and do what you came here to do.
There is a saying that goes “Ready, Fire, Aim” that is so perfect for these times. Don’t wait until you think everything is perfect, take action now. If you aren’t sure what you came here to do it is time to remember, recall and reconnect with that divine purpose! The energy of the planet is here to assist you and there are people out there that are just waiting to work with you. You have a special message to deliver that is all yours, don’t rob others of hearing it!
Infinite blessings and Happy 2011!
~Diane Marie
Gut Healing Juicing Recipes for IBS, Colitis and Chrons Disease
Healing The Gut With Juices:
Healing the gut often is the most taxing, time consuming and frustrating process. I work with many clients who suffer from IBS, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Chron's Disease, various forms of Colitis and other digestive challenges.
Often shock, stress or trauma is rooted in the reason an individual is now dealing with challenging digestive disorders. But, the good news is there is hope and healing. One of my protocols with clients is putting them on a digestive slow down juicing regimen. We work on delaying or even halting the digestive process so that the gut can heal and repair itself. We couple that with a healing juicing program and we get great results.
Today - I'd like to share a few really great juicing recipes.
Benefits of a Salt Glow - Body Polish Treatment for Dry Winterized Skin
Each winter season, Healthy Being Wellness Center caters to our our Florida visitors and winter guests - as we call them "snow birds." Many Northerners flock like birds to the warm, sunny and sandy beaches of the West Coast of Florida. While on vacation to St Petersburg, Clearwater or Tampa Bay they often seek spa services that re-hydrates their skin and sloughs off winter dryness.
Even our fellow Floridians get dry, rough skin. We provide healing services that soothes dry, flaky skin and hydrates both body and soul.
Polished skin from head to toe! This luxurious full body gentle exfoliation treatment uses soothes away dead skin cells leaving your skin hydrated and soft. Your skin is brought back to health and radiance – silky smooth and ready for further treatment.
25 minute session $65
Salt glows are one of the most popular spa treatments, in which the body is rubbed with a mixture of salt and essential oils. The salt scrub helps exfoliate leaving your skin smooth and glowing and is a great way to detox the body. The friction from massaging the salt into the skin helps to remove impurities. Once the treatment is complete you are wrapped to warm the body and enhance detoxification. After the treatment you will rinse the salt off your body to remove the salt and any excess impurities. You should avoid having a salt glows if you have any sores, wounds, rashes or sunburn, and definitely do not shave before treatment or the salt will sting.
Lowering Blood Pressure Naturally Using Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Lymphatic Therapy (electrolymphatic drainage )
Later this afternoon, I will be working with a new client who is coming in with severely elevated levels of blood pressure and is seeking a way to naturally lower her blood pressure levels.
It is most common for individuals to take pharmaceuticals to lower blood pressure but rarely does it have a long term or lasting impact in resolving the root of the problem. When lifestyle changes and meds do not work- it is often necessary for individuals to turn to natural medicine and natural therapies for healing.
I routinely recommend my lymph therapies for my clients who may be experiencing high blood pressure. During a session of lymphatic therapy, an individuals fluid transport system ( ALA the ymphatic System) is motivated and stimulated to create and enhance fluid circulation. This "drainage" technique is a highly effective treatment for managing and lowering blood pressure as well as increasing low blood pressure levels.
Lymphatic Drainage is often recognized as a vascular compression therapy -- albeit a very natural, soothing and stress free way to aid in the elimination of metabolic wastes and stimulate the immune system.
The lymphatic system is an important part of the circulatory system. It aids the body's absorption of nutrients and helps to remove waste from the tissue. The lymph collects the body's waste and then deposits it in the lymph node as it passes through. The lymph nodes also assist the spleen and the bones in producing new white blood cells.
How does lymphatic drainage reduce high blood pressure?
There is a specific process where toxic waste is eliminated from the blood stream. It is an actual pressurized system that creates a pressured force that removes toxic waste called arterial pressure. This arterial pressure forces the blood through tine capillaries and out into the cells' interstitial spaces to effect their exchange with waste which the cells have produced. In this process, the water, or interstitial fluid filled with toxic waste, is gathered by tiny lymphatic tubules and then sent back through the lymphatic system to be detoxified. If the body or lymphatic system has any congestion or sluggishness ( slow fluid transport) this can create a condition where the arterial pressure has to increase to force the blood through the cleansing process - thereby impacting overall body blood pressure.
If you feel that this is a therapy that could benefit you and you happen to live in the Tampa Bay area or in surrounding areas - Orlando, Sarasota, Pasco County- please come in and call for an introductory session 727-502-3464 . Visit our website for more details.
New Years 2011 - Healthy Resolutions using Goal Setting and Vision Boards
Happy 2011 fellow Healthy Beings. It's the season for reassessing our healthy status as well as our ability to create a healthier, happier and more balanced life. Each year, I work with clients who set some major health related goals - often finding themselves a month or even just a few weeks into their year feeling frustrated, anxious and unable to achieve a loft health goal.
I too find myself piling on the tasks and goals that I seek to resolve or change- say paying off a credit card or running 3 miles a day-- while this may seem easy, it takes a lot of preparation and planning. For a non-runner, one would have to work up muscle strength and flexibility as well as the necessary energy and balance of minerals and vitamins to sustain a healthy exercise routine.
Similarly, paying off a credit card takes planning, calculating daily and weekly expenditures as well as ways to create possibly new income to pay down a balance.
I urge everyone to put together sizable resolutions - ones that maybe are a series of mini-steps towards achieving your goals. The more realistic, sizable and often convenient and less taxing are ones that will ultimately get you closer to your goal that you could ever imagine.
One last recommendation for my fellow planners and 2011 resolution makers: create vision boards. They are amazing ways to maximize our positive thoughts and it sometimes just takes some glue, poster board, scissors and some old magazines and within a couple of minutes you can have a vision of the life you seek. Hang it up in your office, your bedroom or a place you see daily and visualize you living the life you so desire.
